Construction Chaos

We know downtown Frisco currently feels like a maze designed by someone who really loves detours. But while we’re all perfecting our U-turn skills and discovering new, creative ways to navigate the construction chaos, let’s not forget about our beloved small businesses! They need our support now more than ever.

So, brave the traffic, dodge the cones and let’s keep those local shops buzzing. After all, nothing says “I love my community” like a coffee from your favorite café or a unique find from a local boutique. Hang in there, Frisco – smoother roads and a revitalized downtown are just around the corner! Follow The Rail District on social for happenings and updates.

Frisco’s Commuter Confessions

  • “Is there a secret competition for the slowest lane that I don’t know about?”

  • “I swear, if I hear one more ad for car insurance, I might just switch to a bicycle.”

  • “Why do I always see the same cars every morning? Are we all just part of some unspoken carpool?”

  • “Why does the GPS always say ‘fastest route’ when it clearly means ‘least slow’?”

Live the Lifestyle: This Week’s Featured Properties

(a.k.a. your next dream home)

Did you hear…?

...what this year’s must-have Christmas gifts are? We’ve scoured the gift guides to gather 5 unusual gift ideas (in some cases downright weird) for your friends and family.

For your kid who isn’t easily creeped out: Randimals Animal Figurine Toy Horse & Shark Hybrid: Is it a shark or a horse? Evidently it’s both and that’s the point. There’s also a hybrid bee and T-rex. Things that make you go hmm.

For your tween: Emotional Support Plushies: We appreciate the calorie-free nature of plush food, but we’re struggling to get the emotional support we need from french fries and pizza made from cotton. Still, “the kids these days” tell us this is a “thing.”

For your colleagues: Dope Doodles Notebook: You probably don’t want to give this to your boss, but we think your cubical mates will love it.

For your drinking partner: Think-n-Drink Wine Bottle Game: Is it a fun happy hour activity or just a really irritating obstacle you have to work around before opening the bottle of wine?

For the kid who’s been paying attention: Amazon Delivery Ride On Toy: Everyone loves their Amazon delivery driver and we hear it’s a pretty good gig, so why not inspire your kiddo to imagine themselves behind that big wheel someday?

Around the Metroplex

Although we’re proud of our Frisco-centric-ness, sometimes we go a little rogue to keep our pulse on cool happenings south of the Sam Rayburn.

The lawn outside Reunion Tower in downtown Dallas has a temporary new use: it’s home to Dallas Trail of Lights, a holiday limited-time event with a carousel, drone shows, and a festive Ferris wheel. Running now through December 25, it’s an all-ages event with Instagrammable photo ops galore, plus what they're calling the World's Largest Light Tunnel – an awe-inspiring pathway glowing with millions of lights. Other amusements include an ice slide, a giant snow foam pit, an 80-foot-tall tree, a Santa on-site for photos, and hot cocoa. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for children, and free for ages 3 and younger.

Parenting Perils

Everyone’s favorite elf has returned to the shelf. This year, UPC #14085-10204 would like to offer her two cents about how to be a good Elf manager.

To Whom It May Concern:

My name is UPC 14085-10204, but my American family calls me Pixie. I’m what you playfully refer to as an Elf on the Shelf, and I’m writing on behalf of all of us magical, mischievous elves this holiday season.

We elves are very much looking forward to returning to your children’s lives to bring smiles to their faces as you parents exploit us in efforts to shame your kids into not being naughty. Hey, it’s the gig. We get it.

So, considering that all parties understand this business arrangement I’ll get to the reason you’re receiving this letter. Plain and simple: we’re bored, and we have some grievances... Continue reading here.
